Director of Community Engagement Services - HigherEdJobs

Job Description: Note: (Local Search) No reimbursement for travel expenses will be provided to local or out of area/out of state
candidates.

* Provide direction to the "College Connection" initiative designed to facilitate the movement of high school graduates into post-secondary education by establishing and operating formal partnerships with local public and private secondary schools. Partnerships entail the coordination of on-site assistance with financial aid, admissions, and advising/coaching processes, as well as on-site assessment services.
* Provide personnel, programmatic, operational, and fiscal leadership to initiatives designed to recruit and support first-time college students, students in transition, and under-served populations as required by the goals of Achieving the Dream and Complete College America.
* Work with key CSN Academic and Student Affairs personnel to promote collaborative structures in the coordination, development, implementation, and assessment of strategies, innovations, and initiatives that provide access to the institution and promote student success.
* Develop an advising and career exploration processes for connecting incoming students to CSN Success Coaches and engaging them and their parents in targeted orientation/information sessions.
* Establish and maintain key relationships with Clark County school district personnel, administration, and counselors in target high schools.
* Gather, analyze, and utilize institutional data to ensure the development of these and other effective recruitment, orientation, and engagement initiatives.
* Develop and oversee other community engagement initiatives which identify and eliminate recruitment, entrance, and procedural barriers to help students transition into CSN.

Required Qualifications: * Masters in Higher Education Administration, Student Development, or closely related field from a regionally accredited college/university.
* Three years of director-level administrative management and supervision experience in student support services.
* Extensive knowledge of higher education retention research, recruitment best practices and strategies, student development theory, emotional intelligence constructs, community organizing, and college completion initiatives.
* Demonstrated ability to engage people of different cultures and socio-economic status.
* Ability to inform and affect policy change for removing barriers to college attainment and completion and to assist in the coordination of college-wide initiatives related to success.
* Effective oral and written communication skills; experience writing for accreditation, grants, and reporting.
* Extensive understanding of best practices regarding the recruitment and retention of under-served populations.
* Engage the greater community in developing youth leadership development initiatives where needed and provide visible and strategic leadership to existing organizations.
* Ability to develop measurable outcomes and assessment strategies to formulate data-informed decisions.
* Ability to work collaboratively with all constituents including faculty.
* Strong computer and technology skills to support student success goals and initiatives.
* Appreciation for the mission of and demonstrated experience in an urban community college.

Preferred Qualifications: * Bi-lingual (Spanish-speaking).
* Doctorate in Higher Education Administration, Student Development, or closely related field from a regionally accredited college/university.
* Knowledge of community engagement principles to ensure the inclusion of political, faith based, and community based organization in the process of developing a college-going and college-success culture.
* Ability to promote, implement, and continuously improve best practices which support and promote student success.
* Experience in multi-project organizational management (personnel, operations, fiscal resources).
* Ability to develop partnerships with key community stakeholders and local high school and district personnel.
